A Place to Pitch Our Tent

"...the Lord your God..went before you in the way to seek you out a place to pitch your tents." Duet 1:33

Hello Friends!
After moving around to various temporary missionary housings, we are now house-sitting for Connie, my roommate from last year.  God also led us to our own place just two houses down from Connie's!  This is an amazing answer to prayer, because I didn't want to spend weeks searching.  I just called up Connie's real estate agent and he found us a place that day!  It's the downstairs of a three story house owned by an older lady.  Her house is surrounded by an iron gate and her live in maid maintains a gorgeous garden on the compound!!  It is quiet and very well kept.  (Most apartments are full of roaches and mice, because of untidy tenants, but they left this place clean.)

This cracks me up, the mosquito is dead even after wearing a gas mask.
We are actually living in what they call the "servant's quarters" as it is very common here for the middle class to hire live in maids/nannies.
Our small community within the larger community is gated and has 24 hour security guards, compliments of a frustrated resident who was tired of the traffic coming to and from the slums.
I am continually learning of the creative, entrepreneur spirit of Kenyans.  She put up gates on either end of a public street, albeit dirt street, and then charged her neighbors a security fee so she could pay her relatives to guard the place. Pretty ingenious!  And the neighbors appreciated the added security.

I can't tell you how "settled" I feel now that God showed us this great place to live!  It reminds me of Deuteronomy where Moses was recounting the history of the Israelites through the wilderness.  Moses reminded the people how God cared for them and went ahead of them and chose the best places for them to stay.
And our God loves and cares for us just as tenderly today as He did for the Israelites 2,000 years ago!
A goat finds food from garbage in Kibera Slum, just a short walk from our house.
